The Elven battlemage Gynefra Caul-Marrel has just escaped the hangman's noose, even as hordes of undead overtake the Kingdom of Altia. Now she must deliver the plague samples procured from the very center of the Barrowlands to the physikers of the Watchful Tower. It won't be easy-tides of newly risen dead commanded by necromancers and bolstered by mercenary cohorts of orcs, goblins, and trolls block her path-yet she is not about to give up.

A narrow sea separates the spreading plague, providing a glimmer of hope for those realms still untouched by the Twisted One. Yet as the Barrowland Slayers fight their way to safety, the prospect of a fleet of undead drifting across the waters becomes chillingly real. Can Gynefra ignore the threat and continue her mission, dooming countless unsuspecting lives to the Ghoul Army? Or can the Barrowland Slayers somehow sink the Rotting Fleet before it makes landfall?

A Murder of Necromancers is the second book in the sword and sorcery series begun by the Wattys-shortlisted Barrowland Slayers.

The kingdoms of Caedland and Saroviya have been at war for centuries, and a darkness has spread across the Northern Lands. In the east, Saroviya has been crippled by fighting on multiple fronts, while Caedland still reels from the murder of its queen's consort and the disappearance of its princess nearly two decades ago. Now, in the war-torn lands between the two kingdoms, a new threat has emerged, an unnatural disease that specifically targets the witches who fight for both kingdoms. In Caedland, a new draft means that young witch Judith Craven must report to the kingdom's capital to join the New Army and begin her training in the military arts. There, however, she soon discovers that her power is not as it seems-and neither is her heritage. Meanwhile, in Saroviya, the king's personal Healer, Alina Kalinin, finds herself sucked into a dangerous political landscape when she is assigned by the leader of the Order of Mages to create a cure for the mysterious new disease that has appeared on her kingdom's border. Even as Judith grapples with awful power and Alina struggles to understand a disease whose origins she soon comes to suspect aren't natural, a group of criminals in the neutral kingdom of Rijkelund set out to steal a sacred artifact from the Saroviyan embassy. But, as they embark on a seemingly-impossible mission, they soon discover that all is not as it may seem, and both Saroviya and Caedland are playing a very different game than it may seem from the outside.

A letter. A secret. And a boy named Ash. This was supposed to be their happily ever after, but Hester isn't so sure. Maybe it has something to do with the letter from an old acquaintance, one that makes her doubt every memory. Maybe it's the secrets from her past that keep coming back to haunt her. Or maybe it's the feelings for her best friend that she can't seem to ignore. Everything turns upside down when a little boy named Ash enters town, a boy who looks eerily similar to the witches' former enemy. There's something ancient, something haunted in Ash's eyes, and with the mysterious Society of Mount Ingerthorn as well as the wicked warlock Zephyr Killoran on the boy's tail, it certainly won't be long until the Coven figures out what, whether they want to or not... This story is a fanfiction portraying the events subsequent to the closing of "The One True King" by Soman Chanani, as well as following the unknown backstory of one of our favorite witches, Hester of Ravenswood. I also did a piece on Anadil's backstory as a part of my previous story, Chaos Rising. A new chapter of this story will be posted every Saturday (or Sunday, but I try for Saturday) WARNING: There is a bit of violence in this story, about the same as the original SGE series. Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters except for Ash, Lilith, Zephyr, and the Society of Mount Ingerthorn
