"What happens after death, after the heart stops, after the decaying of the body?"
Well, first before anyone dies, I visit the victim, but 'victim' is not the right word to use here, 'dying person'. Yes, the 'dying person'. But, I don't always visit them first, sometimes I might be too busy, but I will explain to you how that works later. So after the visit, when the heart stops, I will collect the soul from the body, carry it five steps forward. It is not necessary to do so, but I like doing it, I do it to remember that I am not not invincible, I have rules to follow. Anyway, after the steps, I will give it a kiss to reassure the soul of a promised afterlife. Whether it is good or bad, it is still an afterlife after all, and personally, I don't think you want to argue with me.
Light will appear, then darkness and the soul is to where it belongs, I don't decide for them, 'He' does.
And that is my everyday routine, every hour, no every second to be precise as everyone dies and they are dying quickly, perhaps too quickly. My life is repetitive, being immortal and nearly invincible, my vocation is really boring. I admire the lives of humans, rather. They give me a reason to consider continuing doing what I do. There's just something about them that aggravates, perplexes and intrigues me. Their obliviousness makes them more interesting or at least their stories much more exiting. Their redundant fights to hold on to their precious souls, despite failing almost every time are beyond hysterical. So, I study them, their stories to keep my life more interesting, to give my morbid job much more light. And I would like to share to you a story, three in fact, of three different people I met. A hero, a villain and a victim, who is who? You decide for yourself.
Spoilers: They all die, but who dies the beautiful death?
