Briar lives on her own, in the wilderness. One night, she meets a girl named Thalia Grace, who invites her to join a group of girls known as the Hunters of Artemis. Briar accepts the offer, and after arriving at Camp Half-Blood with the rest of the Hunters, not only is Briar going on a quest but she also gets claimed by a supposedly impossible godly parent.
