Dorothea "Teddy" Hopper hasn't always had the greatest life. After her sister died her parents fought over full custody for her for years, until her mom decided to move away and Dorothea chose to stay at Hawkins for school and would visit her mom during summer break and every other Christmas. However, as rough as her home life was, she always had her two best friends Cleo Harrington and Lane Henderson to lean on. At home, Dorothea was the perfect daughter, had good grades, and always helped her dad around the house because she knew if she didn't things would never get done. However, at school, that's when she was herself: the punk nerd who spent all of her time behind bleachers with her friend as they tried to forget their crappy lives.
After one night of partying with Cleo's twin brother Steve, Dorothea finds herself wrapped up in Hawkins's dark secrets. Taking the chance to skip school, Dorothea takes a ride with Nancy and Jonathan to figure out what is truly going on with the sudden disappearance of Will Byers and Barbara Holland. And all along the way, she gets swept up into the crazy high school love drama.

Moving into the small town of Hawkins during her sophomore year of high school wasn't a treat, but she didn't let it ruin her spirits too much. In fact, she even made some new friends along the way. Granted, most of them were in middle school and were major nerds, but that didn't bother her. She even joined in on some of their DnD campaigns whenever they invited her. It was fun, that was until one of the kids, Will, went missing. Along the way to finding him, (Y/N) befriends some people from her own school, including the goody-two-shoes Nancy Wheeler, and her boyfriend, Steve "The Hair" Harrington. She never really understood why everyone was obsessed with Steve. Or was everyone obsessed with his hair? She never knew. He could be a real asshole sometimes, too. But for whatever reason, she finds herself becoming closer with him the more they hang out. Maybe the king himself wasn't all too bad. - I've rewritten this book as I didn't like the plot all too much! You can find it on my profile titled "Waiting For A Girl Like You". When she was thirteen she went camping with her father and they both went missing for nearly two weeks until Emilie was found barely alive with deep wounds from an unknown origin and her father was found with his eyes caved in and his bones cracked. She was in a coma for thirteen weeks when she came back she had no memory of what happened. Doctors said the trauma was so great that the young girl blocked it out. But ever since then, she kept having nightmares of a place. Like this world but cold and dark. She lived with the Byers as she became friends with Jonathan and was like a daughter to Joyce until her brother and mother were able to move to Hawkins with her due to complications. She's now known at the traumatized girl of Hawkins High with the freak brother, yet somehow she is Steve "The Hair" Harrington's best friend albeit their relationship has gotten rocky. She deals with normal things along with her nightmares and trauma-school, bullies, insecurities, and being in love with her best friend. But when Will Byers goes missing and odd occurrences start happening, Emilie's memories start coming back. *Under going changes*
