Genesis... ...well Genesis is a spy. She has always been a spy. In occupied France, 1944, the Nazis are so close to finding her. She's so close to being burned, but she manages. She manages to just keep their suspicions off of her. But she needn't for long, as the date of her extraction is drawing near. And as she waits, she wonders "who will I have to be next?" Except maybe with the elected chief, Ralph, the intellect, Piggy, the quiet friend and sage, Simon, and the littluns. What she wants most, though, is to keep away from that damn Jack Merridew, who's the most arrogant and annoying boy she's ever met and has some rather questionable friends. But as sparks start to fly between the two of them, the island starts to get more dangerous. Littluns whisper of a "snake-thing" in the woods, and the boys start to lose their grip on sanity and civilization. In the midst of all this, will she stay with the civilization she knows and lose the boy she loves, or stay with the boy she loves and lose the civilization she knows? Ad Astra Per Aspera is the sequel to The Soldier of Stars. ----------- Waking up disoriented and inside a hospital, that has the dingy army issued light bulbs, the rough cots and the smell of despair is not how Hazel thought her new year would start, especially with the pulsing wound that lies in her side. Hazel Parker, severely injured and mentally unstable, lies in wait at a field hospital, as Easy Company continues to battle the tortures of the war. Catherine McCown, Elizabeth Elliot and Easy Company, are struggling, especially after the major losses of Bill Guanere and Joe Toye or others like Donald Hoobler and especially Skip Muck and Alex Penkala and most importantly, the tiny sniper Hazel Parker. Each loss pushed Easy into a darker time, a darker reality that they would ultimately have to face if they were to make the attack on Foy. They know the war is coming to a close soon, it has to be, but with the current loses and the shine of hope that is slowly dwindling, Easy barely stays afloat as they manage to fend off the town of Foy and proceed to Alsace, France. The Soldier of Stars ~ Band of Brothers [1] A young woman who finds peace in the stars, and let's them guide her even through the darkness that might overcome her. __________ Hazel Parker of the WAC, Catherine McCown of SPARs and Elizabeth Elliot of the Cadet Nurses' Corps take part in Operation Virago which will send 250 women to the front lines to fight alongside men. The government, along with the War Department and direction from General Eisenhower decide this is a secret, covert operation that the public will be shielded from, to see how integrating women into war will work. Each of the 250 women come with their own ambitions of what they want from war and why they signed up in the first place to be apart of this program. They become split into each of the 5 branches with leverage from each of the branch commanders, and split into groups of 2, 3, or 4 women and are placed into their different respective branches. The enlisted men of each branch, well, they do not know exactly how to approach a woman who, at the moment, has more military training and experience by the time they get placed into their positions. Hazel Parker, Catherine McCown and Elizabeth Elliot are placed into the 101st Airborne, the first 3 women to be apart of the Airborne. A few other women head off to the 82nd. These 3 women become part of the 506th and are put under 2nd Battalion, in Easy Company.
