After Jaune is supposedly killed by Cinder Fall during the Battle of Haven, he is transported to a world similar to Remnant, but very noticeably different. In order to return home to rejoin the war, Jaune makes a deal with the US government: join the crew of US Outpost 31 in Antarctica, and in return, the government will try and create a portal back to Remnant. Unfortunately, things don't go as planned when they find perhaps one of the most horrific creatures Jaune has ever encountered.

Weiss and Kuraime are in Atlas, with the former trying to escape from her father and the latter assisting her. Jaune's transcripts are revealed early after Cardin hears him tell Pyrrha about them, with this Jaune decides to distance himself from his team so they don't get ridiculed. This however leaves him alone with only verbal support by his team and friends, and he is forced to live outside the dorms for a bit. For a few months Jaune makes himself a home in the Forest of Beacon and due to some political nonsense he has to send his weapon back home, he has to use spare weapons from the armory at the school and learn how to use them. In no time he gets better and through training he catches up to his friends, but thats not all fate has in store for him as he would become more than just a man, he would become the 'Dark Knight' of Remnant.
