In the picturesque town of Cielo Colorato, young Beatrice, or Bea, moves from New York back to Italy to care for her ailing grandmother, Nonna. Beatrice viewed being in the town as a burden, but found a way to channel her frustration into painting. However, the idyllic setting is overshadowed by a chilling rumor about the Great Leaf Grove, the nearby forest with a mysterious number of disappearances behind it.

While dealing with enemies at school and facing new friendships, she has a chance encounter with the creature dwelling in the forest. Bea is then faced with a life-altering choice. Will she become a victim of the lurking darkness, or can she forge an unlikely friendship with the very creature the town fears?

In the quiet, superstitious town of Hollow's End, whispers circulate about a boy who lives deep in the woods-a boy cursed with half the face of a skeleton, feared by all who dare to speak his name. The townspeople warn that the forest is haunted, urging everyone to stay far from its shadowy borders. Lily, a daring 19-year-old who has never believed in old tales, sneaks into the woods one night, driven by her unshakable curiosity. There, she meets Kael, a mysterious and brooding figure whose life has been marred by a curse that forced him into isolation. Kael, now 23, lives alone in a secluded cabin, hiding behind a mask that conceals the skeletal half of his face. To his surprise, Lily isn't frightened by his appearance-she sees past the curse to the man he truly is. As the two grow closer, their bond begins to challenge the very beliefs that have kept Kael isolated for years. But the curse that haunts Kael runs deeper than anyone in the town knows. As Lily delves into the mystery of what really happened to Kael, she discovers that the curse isn't just about his appearance-it's tied to a dark secret that could destroy them both. In The Phantom of the Woods, Lily and Kael must face the unknown together, unearthing the truth behind the curse and testing whether love can break through the barriers of fear and isolation. Their journey leads them into the heart of the forest's darkness, where secrets, danger, and the very essence of Kael's humanity are at stake.

Sawyer lives a harsh life in a hard world. Her mother is constantly working to heal their sick father and Sawyer has to take care of her younger sister as the step-in 'mom'. Their village is adjacent to a blackened forest by the name of the Twilight Woods. The witch Umbra inhabits it and is the one who created it out of grief and anger. The curse turned every being inside into a hideous creature of darkness and shadow, a Silhouette. They take over and attack the village every so often in attempt to seek out the potion that will grant Umbra her freedom so she can have her revenge and wreak havoc on the village. Sawyer soon finds herself in the paws of the forest and has to rescue her younger sister. Accompanied by the Potion Master's son, they embark on a journey that causes them to cheat death and risk Umbra's infinite wrath.
