The day the world died. October 11th, 2019. We all remember it well, unfortunately. It started as a rabies outbreak in 2017. Except instead of symptoms showing up over time, the effects showed instantly. It spread and killed a horrific amount of natural wildlife and pets. It took scientists a lengthy 2 years to create a vaccine and cure for this. I know what you're thinking. Sounds like a happy story doesn't it? You would be wrong. Over the next year or so, we would notice an uptick in rabies cases again. This time, the drugs had no effect. So, so many animals died. It was devastating. Even the most abundant of species became endangered. Even opossums, famous for not being able to contract rabies, became susceptible. Eventually, farmers opted to humanely euthanize entire flocks that came in contact with the virus. This mutated version of the virus seemingly melted their brains, leaving half dead, extremely aggressive husks of their former selves. The worst part? The virus didn't even have the decency to kill them. Almost all of them had to be euthanized. Only a few were kept alive for research purposes. So that we could get in front of this murderous train and try to stop it. But, that's where everything went downhill. For all I know, I may be the only living person left.

He quickly becomes addicted to the girl and once he gets one taste he's done for. He warns her about his past, about his name, but she ignores all the red flags, not realizing exactly how intertwined she is with the people from his past. He becomes enamored with her, feels like she was made for him while still battling the demons of his past and soon it all becomes too much for him to handle.
