The realm of Asleandra has been marred by numerous events of destruction and turmoil, and the consequences of what is known to most as "The Wyvern wars", left an especially harsh mark on the Kingdom of Reigngord; now years after his father had perished due to internal wounds he suffered while fighting the war, King Alexander Elrod is faced with a difficult choice, his succession. While Alexander has five children who would all be suitable candidates, he's indecisive and can't make a decision, hence he sends them out on a quest; the first of his five children to bring him the head of a Wyvern they've slain, will be his heir. But his youngest daughter, Edith Elrod, has no interest in the throne whatsoever, instead she seeks to truly find out if Wyverns exist in Asleandra, or if her father is simply delusional, and to her shock and surprise, after much research, she finds one; but in the face of what seemed like death, Edith was calm, and rather than hate, she forged a strong bond with the creature, vowing to protect it and the rest of its kind. But surely this would be no easy task, for in the land of Reigngord, there are many, including her own siblings, who would instead see Wyverns completely wiped from the continent.

Queen Natalya Kastillion fought a war to reclaim her throne and restore magic to a world that had spent a century trying to silence it. Twenty years after her ascension to the throne, the kingdom she rebuilt has entered an age of unprecedented prosperity. Magic is revered once more, and dragons rule the skies. Elves, druids, and ancient creatures once driven into hiding now walk openly among mortals. But magic was never meant to be caged, or released without consequence. Now Natalya rules, with the family she fought to protect beside her, including her son, Prince Kaelen, heir to everything she built. Raised on stories of his mother's victories, and trained in magic, politics, and combat, Kaelen has spent his life preparing for the crown. But neither of them is prepared for what comes next. An ancient darkness over five centuries old has returned. The Dark One, a being thought lost to legend, threatens to step into the world. From her very essence come her children, the Princes of Death, powerful beings whose arrival threatens to unravel the peace Natalya spent decades creating. As old powers awaken, and alliances begin to fracture, dragons claim the skies, and armies march across the realm, while enemies emerge from unexpected places. For Natalya, the war is a reminder that victory never comes without a price. But for Kaelen, and the family who will inherit her kingdom, it is a lesson in what that price truly means. Because restoring magic brought the wonder of an ancient world back with it. But it also brought the darkness too. For a Queen's war won a kingdom, but it is family that will determine whether it survives.
