The monthly hunts and races were supposed to be a fun event, with the aim of getting a friend for life. It was never meant to turn into a mission.
The rules were supposed to be clear, and easy to follow. Hunters and Runners had slightly altered rules from each other, to keep the game interesting. Lives weren't meant to be at stake.
But something funny is going on in Tommy's life, and the facts that he knew for certain are crumbling away into questions. What is actually going on with hunts and races, and why is Dream so desperate to prove something?
After an attempt on his life, Tommy knows he can't just let Dream win. He understands that Dream's manipulative, cruel, and willing to do whatever to get what he wants. But if he were trying to use those powers against Tommy himself, that would have been one thing. It's completely different when he's trying to break Purpled instead.

Also, let's just pretend that some mcyt did a face reveal or their faces got leaked, so yeah. Also, I will say this ahead of time, some of the ways the mcyt get together are kinda rushed, but later on in the story there are more stuff about the ship and stuff. Btw, there are mentions of drinking, but they don't drink irresponsibly, and in this story, they don't drink that much and they make sure to try not to drink that much if they do. A teenage boy is running from the law. A large bounty is over his head, and five Hunters are constantly chasing him, determined to get the money. It all changes when Dream gets wings. Now everything that he knew about life is upside down and twisted. As he is a magpie, his "bird-brain" takes over when he sees anything shiny, and he immediately wants it. It also pops up during great emotion, scattering his usual calm and cold reactions. His wings are tiny, not yet full grown, like they should have been because most avians are born with their wings. He doesn't know who he is, or what to call himself, and he no longer feels safe with the sudden new dangers around him, especially with his fresh wings to take care of.
