The Zodiac story isn't just the zodiac animals. The elemental spirits started possessing a small group of families on the outskirts of the Sohma Clan about 160 years ago. Y/n is possessed by the Earth spirit. Those possessed by these elemental spirits are able to control their respective element.
The main families are unaware of the Elementals existance. The only person who knew of these spirits was Akira Sohma, and he never told anyone... or did he?
