After being dumped by her loser boyfriend, Katana Thorn isn't the same again, and it shows. As a member of the student council at her high school and one of the most popular students in Wimcrick High, Katana doesn't exactly know how it feels to lose something and when she experiences it for the first time, it isn't a feeling she particularly enjoys.
Katana can't remember a time she's not been with Frederick, her boyfriend since she was a little kid, since their families have been friends for way longer than she can bother to remember. But Frederick lies to her and then dumps her right before a school party, one which Katana is the organizer, and for the first time she feels betrayed.
Duke Rose... if the fact that his female sounding last name isn't bad enough, then the fact that he is the biggest geek ever known definitely makes it worse. Duke wants to start this school year on a good note, and what better way to start it than to actually have a date to the Midnight Falls party at Wimcrick High this year, but this feat proves harder than expected as no one wants to go with him.
In a last minute attempt to get a date his best friend links him up with no other than Katana Thorn, who only just lost her date and Duke can't believe his luck.
But things won't be easy for Katana and Duke, especially when Katana enters a relationship with Duke solely for her own selfish reasons, she realizes that the boy could be the best thing that's ever happened to her, but deep down she's too selfish to admit it.
In this story, hearts would be broken and mended back, and you'll probably experience angst like never before but you'll absolutely love the characters as much as I do, even as they make completely terrible decisions.
NB: This isn't your usual fake-dating trope. In fact there isn't a fake-dating trope going on in this book, so don't let yourself be deceived.
Enjoy! Ps- I might be a little bit of an unreliable narrator, hehehe.
