After stumbling upon a group of refugees called the Allegiant, Tris and Tobias realize that their world was a lot smaller than they thought it was.

The factionless are driven to clean up Chicago and retain power with their factionless leader, Evelyn...Meanwhile, the Bureau of Genetic Warfare have other plans.

Despite having fled the dangerous repercussions of Jeanine's power, the group is left with only two choices: Join the Allegiant and help reinvent their home of Chicago, or return to Chicago with no memory of the faction system.
