In the shadowy penumbra of the fifth wave, emerges Jonathan, a Combat Aide. Sacrificed and destined to confront the malevolent terror that relentlessly pursues him even in his dreams: the "Mire of Abyss". In that battle, he loses his faithful Companion, along with the life essence that bound them, leaving his heart and soul scarred by the loss.

Will he succumb to the shadows of the abyss, vanishing into a dark and forgotten fate? Can he somehow find an anchor to pull him from his eternal nightmare when he closes his eyes? Doubts consume him, burdened by the weight of failure and the loss of his comrade. Now, he questions his ability and wrestles with the idea of facing once more the precipitous path of misfortune and what it means to be a soldier in that world.
