When the kind and imaginative seven-year-old Sara Crewe reaches Miss Minchin's Select Seminary for Young Ladies with her papa, she doesn't quite like it.
                                                   "I don't like it," she said. "But then I dare say soldiers-- even brave ones-- 
                                                                        don't really like going into battle."
The apple of her father's eyes, Sara has all the privileges at the seminary and is treated with special care. Soon enough, she befriends her classmates and is nicknamed a 'princess', which she often pretends to be.

But just after her eleventh birthday, when the news of her father's death arrives, everything happens.

AUTHORS NOTE (edited): As this was written and finished before I learned about ableism towards little people in the original Snow White story thus properly introducing me to these issues, there might be some things in this fic that can read as ableist towards little people (or at least as ignorant). This was of course not my intent, but is still something I feel should be acknowledged, and apologised for. On some level I do not know if I'm just overthinking it, or reaching (I tend to do those things sometimes), but I still don't think I could go on without saying something, especially as this fanfic is supposed to in part comment on and go against ableism.
