Blu is happy in her district - fishing with her father, cooking what she has caught with her mother, and teaching her little sisters to read after dinner. At 16 she has 2 years left until she cannot be reaped for the Capitol sanctioned Hunger Games, 2 years until she is free.
Her older sister is 18, only this reaping to go and then she is free herself. With a baby on the way and a wedding planned for after the reaping, everything in her life is falling into place - a future has been set.
Until, that is, when Cara is called forth as a tribute for the 74th annual hunger games.
Now, vowing to protect her sister, Blu must venture into the arena as a volunteer of District 4, promising her family that she shall return. It would be very unfortunate if a particular career would put himself in the way of that goal...
