Techno took in a deep breath, allowing the thoughts to creep down his throat and wrap around his heart, pressing tightly as they took root. Completely in control, just as they always were.

"Don't lie to me like that," he said. His voice sounded almost robotic; void of the assumed anger, the mourning of his freedom, the regret that Wilbur so desperately wanted to see in him. "We both know that all you want here is a confession, that way you can ship me off to a life in hell until I drop dead and everyone forgets I even existed. I'm not naive, Siren. You can assume all you'd like about me, but never, ever assume that I am a fool."

Wilbur's eyes bore into his soul as his arms crossed tightly over his chest, as though he were trying to reassure himself. If Techno were to look closer, he would be able to see the tears that shone in his eyes.
