Vilgax, Ben's most formidable enemy returns after exploring the different timelines. He came back with a weapon that would ensure Ben did not return. With the help of Albedo, they create a weapon that can send people to different dimensions that have no relation to their own. 

Ben gets ambushed and shot with the weapon, causing his body to contort and eventually disappear. An unspecified amount of time later, Ben wakes up in a hospital. 

He knew something was wrong since the last thing he remembers was being shot by Vilgax and then nothing. 

Soon he comes to realize that he is no longer in Bellwood, but somewhere completely different.
