A person can be many things at once. Only some of them are true.

To the outside world, Kayla Pierce-Addams is a mechanical engineer working for one of the biggest tech conglomerates on the East Coast. To her family and coworkers, Kayla is a loyal agent of HYDRA, following in the footsteps of her great-uncle, Alexander Pierce. Kayla is neither.

After working for years to take down HYDRA from the inside, Kayla's cover is blown in the data leak immediately preceding the fall of SHIELD. In the chaos that follows, she meets Yelena Belova, Red Room assassin. As they navigate their changing world and the hellscape that is their lives, they come to realize that they are the only two people who can save each other.

Zola Barnes, daughter of Natasha Romanoff, and the adoptive daughter of Clint Barton is raised in the red room for the first few years of her life. She grew up to the feeling of the Winter Soldier's metal fist punishing her for every mistake she made. She was thirteen-year-old Natalia's liability in the red room, but she was Clint Barton's world once he took the two of them in instead of pursuing his mission to kill them. Their lives change as they work for SHIELD alongside Clint, run from their old captors with his help, and hide in hotels and safe houses. Though Zola can hardly speak English or understand what is happening to her, she builds relationships with her mother, whom she used to be denied of seeing. She gets closer to Clint, who she genuinely believed was her father. She didn't know any better. Thankfully, she was happy to lose the one relationship she never asked for. She'd longed for a father figure, but the relationships she had with everyone in the Red Room, especially the Winter soldier, were not that. As unfortunate as it was for Bucky, who wanted nothing more than to be a part of his daughter's life, he was forced to watch her grow up in someone else's care from a distance. They wiped him so often, he would hardly remember her, anyway. Still, in the small moments where he could remember, he hoped that one day he would win her trust back as Bucky, not the Winter Soldier that she knew. BOOK ONE IN ZOLA BARNES SERIES.

LRS-Episode II: Black Widow and Hawkeye

21 parts Complete

"THEY TOOK HER..." With the mantle of Hawkeye passed onto Kate Bishop, the girl has been expanding her horizon and keeping up her training, still intent on emulating Clint Barton. At the same time, she and Yelena Belova have still been settling in New York City with "little Lena." They do their best to raise her properly, both seeing parts of themselves that they didn't know were there. Yelena and Kate grow closer as friends, open for whatever the future holds. But the archer's head remains on a swivel and the ex Widow encounters people she thought she would never see again. Neither of them dare let their guard down when the innocent child is taken away. The two young women may not be the best at parenting, but no way are they holding back punches to save little Lena from trained assassins. Yelena Belova was her niece's protector, but now her little ray of sunshine is miles away from her. So along with Kate Bishop and a few other guests along the way, the Best Child Assassin the Red Room had ever created is more than ready to fight for that sweet little girl. Co-writer: Derek Bartlett
