Sara is an outcast. She's moody and short-tempered, so when she discovers that she's the daughter of the Ancient Greek god of the Underworld, she is surprisingly overjoyed. Whisked away to "Camp Half-Blood," she finds a friend in an unusual place, who may be the key to helping her brother with a struggle he's still trying to comprehend.

"What do you want?" the boy asked, glowering. He looked a couple years older than me, fourteen or fifteen.

"Um, nice to meet you too."

"Okay look," he said, turning to look at me. "You're obviously a daughter of Hades because there is no other reason that you would be in this cabin. So you want a big brother's advice? Get used to being alone."

His words sting. But I'm more than used to the hostility.
