If you were to look through one of the twelfth-floor windows of Auckland City Hospital, you would glimpse a redheaded girl, curls spread out over the pillow, IVs stuck into every inch of her pale skin.
This girl is Aster.
Ever since her appendix burst, giving her blood poisoning, fiery Aster has been bedridden in her ward, slowly dying in pain and strife Her mother can't bear to see her, and her little sister is her only real support.
When doctors tell her she has one more day to live, and in order to bear the pain of dying, Aster visits her twenty-four biggest thoughts as a final farewell to life.
