"We were gonna give up on the fast life Have a couple babies, raise 'em up right Take 'em to the river, get 'em baptized Back in our day, if I'd have just stayed..." -Sam Hunt: Outskirts ~~There's alway that one...the one that got away. Their memory lingers around. Keeping you constantly wondering about the what if's and the maybe's. No matter what you do to move on, you still find yourself hanging on for dear life.... Ryleigh Marie Johnson, or Ry. That was Sam Hunt's ghost. Always in the back of his mind lurking, waiting for the perfect time to creep into his mind. Sneaking into his lyrics. Constantly reminding him what he left behind when he transferred from Tennessee to Alabama. After trying out for the Chief's and not making the cut. Sam decided it was time to pack up and head to Nashville to pursue a career in making music. Something he found comfort in after he transferred. Sam's music career has really started to take off. Little did he know fate would cause these two to cross paths once more, giving him a second chance. Can Sam navigate his new found fame while trying to mend hearts and bridges with the ghost of his past, while dealing with his rocky relationship. Can Ry forgive Sam for breaking her heart and leaving her to pursue his dream? This story is set to start in September of 2014, after X2C EP is released just before Montevallo was released. I do not own Sam Hunt, Hannah Fowler or any of the songs used in this story.

Book is completed! ✅ * January 2, 2020: placed third in romance category for the Duck Awards! The crash that broke through the last of her desperate hopelessness, was merciful, or so they said. Merciful, indeed. Merciful, for now she knew how cruel that promise had been. How had she managed to hold onto those words, as the world around her fell to ash? He hadn't remembered her at all, and she doubted he dwelled on the indefinite promise he'd made her. He hadn't remained the same, that she knew. He had risen to the top, left her to watch from far below as he became the star he had always dreamed of being. To believe he would return for her just because he had said so was ludicrous. Yet, if by some twist of fate, he did come back? "I'll come back for you," he'd said. Those vague words would be her undoing. **Inspired by Max Schneider's song "I'll Come Back for You" **Please do not steal my writing. This story took years to get down on paper and so much hard work!
