24-year-old Serena Yvonne is the daughter of the Duke of Viridian City and a beloved dancer. When her father dies, she is forced by her penniless stepmother, Oleana to become engaged to marry the rich and condescending Mivashkama Herløv, the Lord of Hammerlocke in the Galar region. Serena, Mivashkama, and Oleana are sailing to what Serena sees as her own personal doom on the Titanic, the largest ship in the world that Mivashkama helped fund. Serena so bitterly hates this prospect that she tries to kill herself by jumping from the ship. She is saved by Ash Ketchum, a brash young man from third class. What follows is a time of wonder, idolatry, friendship, discrimination, joy, fear, unity, broken pride, and love.
