The book follows the break up of Stacey and Robert and showcases how the breakdown in the family turns from sorrow into something Stacey did not prepare for. Dealing with Robert's unreasonable behaviour and demands, Stacey eventually finds the courage to stand up to Robert and acknowledge his wrongdoings.
