Six months ago, the draconia, a "superior" humanoid race with incredible predatory skills, swept across the continent, all but obliterating human life there. Now, they rule the carnage of a once-glorious empire, while humanity retreats to the shadows to survive.

Nikara has no memory of this apocalyptic disaster…in fact, she has no memory of anything at all. She wakes up in this strange new world with nothing but the clothes on her back and a note in her pocket, telling her her name and demanding that she locate the "Target", a mysterious leader of the draconia race. To unlock her memory and restore humanity, Nikara must travel to the Blackscales base, a city ruled by the most notorious and powerful of draconia.

Nightshade has a secret. Her fellow Blackscales believe that she destroyed Genesis, a rebel human group, during the Uprising six months ago…but Nightshade knows that the Genesis leaders escaped, and that they will soon return, stronger than ever. Even more disturbing is the new addition to the Genesis team, a freakish biology experiment known only as the Failsafe. Now that the Failsafe has been unlocked, Nightshade knows that it will come to destroy her, and the rest of draconia, as vengeance for their crimes against humanity.

And when the Failsafe does arrive, draconia and humanity must wage war once again.
