I wanted to write a story with explicit scenes that worked perfectly well if you wanted to read it without them too. The love of Finnick Odair and Annie Cresta seemed so pure, so human, that I wanted to give them a fully fleshed put backstory, because let's face it, they deserve one. From their childhood, to Finnick's games, to his time in the Capitol, to Annie's games to the events of the actual series, this book has it all... and more! I will be returning to old chapters and fleshing them out as I see fit, as well as writing new ones. All explicit scenes will be handled tastefully in the regular chapters, similarly to Peeta and Katniss in mockingjay with the 'so after...'. The chapter after one of these moments will be an appropriately signed explicit scene, that won't add anything to the story that wasn't there already. So enjoy this story, but remember, in Panem, the odds are never in your favour...

Like all children in his world, 14-year-old Finnick Odair had the chance of being chosen for the Hunger Games. In a pool stock full of names, he was just as vulnerable as anyone from the ages of 12-18. And in District Four, which often tends to produce Career tributes, its residents could only hope that this year's pair would fall under that description. On Reaping day, a 14-year-old boy's name is called. A name that is often whispered down the hallways of the local high school, giggled at, fawned over. The gasps that arose afterwards were monumental. Him, of all people? It couldn't be, could it? Yet it was. At age 14, Finnick Odair was called forth to be a tribute in the 65th annual Hunger Games. Many stood there and thought, "He's just a pretty face. How could he possibly bring home the victor's crown?" However, some people are far more than a pretty face. In fact, it's even said that those with such captivating allure are most often the ones that can catch you off guard and bring you to your knees. __________________________ Excerpt: ❝25, 24, 23...❞ I can do this. I have the skills, the desire--I can win. It's possible. I know it's possible. The odds may be against me, against all of us, but one of us has to win. ❝15, 14, 13...❞ So to everyone in Four watching; to my mom, dad, and Annie Cresta, I'm making a promise to you. ❝7, 6, 5, 4...❞ Whatever happens here, I will fight like hell to come back home, ❝3, 2, 1...❞ I promise you. ❝Who are you? Who 𝘢𝘮 I?❞ ✑✑✑✑ All tributes know when and how they get in the Arena. The Victor, however, never knows when or how they get out. Not until Claudius Templesmith announces their name and district to the entire nation. Once the tribute becomes a victor, they're taken out of the Arena. Only to eventually realise they never truly escaped. The nightmares, the cameras, the deals, nothing ever lets them forget. Their entire lives, they're reminded of what they did. The mask of luxury that covers their sleepless nights and destructive thoughts, is kept in place by the finest glue known to President Snow; a bit of hope mixed in the bowl of darkness and fear. There's but one problem with that mask. For it to work, the victor must have two essential things; haunting vivid memories and loved ones they would trade their lives to protect. One without the other is to no use. So when Olive Navin Cresta survives the 69th Hunger Games with no recollection of her time in the Arena, the mask gets destroyed before it's even placed. Please, don't forget, the odds are never in our favour. ✑✑✑✑✑✑✑✑✑ 𝕒𝕞𝕟𝕖𝕤𝕚𝕒𝕔 /𝕒𝕞ˈ𝕟𝕚ː𝕫ɪ𝕒𝕜/ 𝕟𝕠𝕦𝕟, '𝕒 𝕡𝕖𝕣𝕤𝕠𝕟 𝕖𝕩𝕡𝕖𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕟𝕔𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕒 𝕡𝕒𝕣𝕥𝕚𝕒𝕝 𝕠𝕣 𝕥𝕠𝕥𝕒𝕝 𝕝𝕠𝕤𝕤 𝕠𝕗 𝕞𝕖𝕞𝕠𝕣𝕪.' ✑✑✑✑✑✑✑✑✑ I DO NOT OWN THE HUNGER GAMES I only own my OC and part of her family. My representation of the 69th Hunger Games, a few side characters that aren't mentioned in the book, and their backstory. The book is based off The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.
