Charley Beckett-perfectly sane, normal, Charley Beckett-counts everything. Years since her parents' unsolved murder: fifteen. Bodies she's found dead: three. Puncture wounds on each of their throats: two. People who believe her when she says vampires are to blame: zero. Since her parents' murder, she's tried to get past her hallucinations, PTSD, and her reputation as the little red-haired girl police found screaming about monsters that didn't-surely, couldn't-exist. But there's this story-conspiracy theory-swirling around her small town that says her father was part of a secret government experiment, one that would prove vampires weren't legends at all. And Charley can't move on. Especially when she stumbles upon a dead girl with the same bloody puncture wounds as her parents-and someone follows her home. Left with no one who believes her, Charley breaks into the abandoned facility where her father once worked, desperate to find the truth. But she's not the only one after answers. Victor, a handsome vampire, is there to convince her that not only is she perfectly sane, but he's the only one that can save her from those who seek to abuse her connection to the government's experiments. However, when Victor knows details about her parents' death that only the murderer could, Charley will need to learn to trust herself, no matter how crazy her thoughts may seem. If she doesn't, she'll go from counting bodies to counting her last heartbeats...one...two...three...nothing. "Maybe someone heard my screams or maybe the reaper wears combat boots..."

It has been three years since Amity Park first saw ghosts, and now it was uncommon to go a day without an explosion or fight of some kind. Heroes have shown up, the Red Huntress, the GIW, The Fenton's, and Phantom. Danny Fenton used to be an A+ student; he was going to go on to be an astronomer, an astronaut, and live out his dreams of visiting the stars. No one really knows what happened to the bright kid he used to be, but he was now failing practically every class, and if he wasn't sleeping in class, he was missing half of it. No one knows what happened to the bright young star, but they want to. Danny Phantom is the Ghost Prince. After defeating the prior Ghost King, every entity in the Ghost Realm was preparing for his coronation. The day his body turns eighteen years old, he will be the Ghost King. However, they cannot have a halfling as their king, so the only viable option is to kill his human half. Thankfully that has already been written into the coronation process. They just need to collect the ingredients for the potion. Danny Phantom would rather not be king, but he doesn't get a say in the matter. - The title is from the song Dark on Me from Starset. I just thought it was kind of cool. I started writing this a while ago, and I have a few parts already written, but I am going to hold off on posting them because I have a habit of procrastination, so maybe waiting to post for a few days or so will help me actually update it. I've also been updating this on Ao3 if anyone would prefer to read it there :) All of the Chapter Titles are lyrics to the Starset song Echo.

The Field Trip and a Secret Identity

19 parts Complete

Danny Fenton is just another person like the rest of us. He goes to school, he sleeps, eats, and lives. Only half way though for that last one. While not dead, he isn't alive. Danny is a halfa. Half alive and half dead; half boy and half ghost. It's hard enough keeping that a secret from ghost hunting parents. After the Disasteriod incident though, it has gotten harder to fake being normal. And a field trip with his class to the place filled with both allies and friends of his isn't the best way to keep a secret either. With something crawling out of the shadows for revenge, this trip can only lead to nothing good. Maybe they'll make it out safe. Maybe the bad guy isn't who you think. To continue on this adventure and find out what happens next, read the story. ---- Disclaimer for the whole book: I don't own Danny Phantom. I own the plot. I'd like to give a warning that some later chapters do have mild descriptions of violent acts, but no graphic depictions of hardcore gore. If this bothers people, do not read. I also only edited the cover. I make the in chapter art sometimes.
