When Arthur's life is spared at the Lake of Avalon after Merlin brokers a deal with the Sidhe, neither of them are aware of the consequences that will befall them when one cheats the workings of Fate. Whilst stolen glances and lingering touches become an unspoken act in Merlin and Arthur's relationship, nothing more is expected to come of it.
But as Merlin realises that the blood he coughs up one day is a repercussion of his actions, Arthur finds himself coming to terms with his feelings whilst desperately attempting to save his friend.
