"What if I never get over you, Mas? What if, all my life, when I meet someone new, I can never fall for them because they aren't you? Or better yet, what if I can't fall for them because whenever I look them in the eye, all I see is you? I can't do this anymore, Mason. We're over, everything about you hurts. What's the point of loving someone, if I can't even look them in the eye without crying?" As the conversation dragged on, I could tell her eagerness to end it grew. As if on cue, her brother's car pulled into the parking lot. As it approached, my desperation to prolong our moment grew. I needed to say something to make her stay a little longer.

"I'm not a bad person," I whispered.
