This story is about a powerful women with a dark past named Esmeralda Rosalie Devereux. But to her colleuges, she is known as Nightshade.

Esmeralda is a highly skilled spy/ assassin working for an American organization called S.H.I.E.L.D., her mission is to keep S.H.I.E.L.D. informed of the on-going cold war between Westalis and Ostania.

And in order to do her mission, she must take on the role as normal civilian, working an unsuspecting job, living in a unsuspecting home, and just living an unsuspecting, but there's a problem.

Since she was 25, she is expected to already be married, and since she isn't, she is in the risk of being reported by her peers as the Secret Police have deemed that those without spouses at certain ages could be spies working against them.

She needed a husband. Fast.

But luckily, a mysterious, almost emotionless, yet incredibly handsome man by the name Loid Forger, AKA Twilight, needed a wife just as urgently, accompanied by an adorable, mind-reading, ball of sunshine named Anya.
