Courtney Dollanganger was smitten by Papa Corn the Clown when he came to her town on his circus tour. She secretly wanted to run away with him and the clown gang to get away from the dead-end job at the supermarket bakery, but she only thought of that idea of a sugar-high dream in the captivity of reality.
