What kind of nightmare lies between dream and reality? An inescapable place exists in the deepest depths of the mind where a clawed predator is on the prowl. Desperately running away or hiding is the prey's only hope for survival. And waking up is but a temporary relief as the sky must darken again.
Pure mental torment.
This is the gruesome fate of Dionte Harris on the first night of December. The new month brings a chilling ordeal that's impossible to forget, even long after the sun rises.
When acts of betrayal can't be tried in a court of law, two victims sentence their enemies with their own punishment. These prisoners might not ever experience a peaceful sleep, and the wounded pair responsible can receive satisfaction in their suffering.
Unless a beacon of light from above provides an exit, illuminating a path for the lost through the darkness.

"Are you coming to bed firefly?" He says to me laying his hands over my waist joining me in looking over the city. "I want to look out for a little longer if that is alright?" I mumble hoping that he heard me anyways, I wasn't ready to walk into that bedroom, and I don't think I ever would be. "Of course, I'll be getting ready for bed, come in whenever you are ready." He says confidently and walks away leaving my waist cold something for which I am grateful. Especially when my mind burns with other more dangerous thoughts. The warmth that forever lingers in the air, never burning the skin, but always reminding about what is around us. I force air into my lungs feeling the unexpected warmth fill me. He stands in the room watching me even though he said he was getting ready for bed. He is worried about me, about me jumping. I have contemplated it I will admit, but he would stop me before I fell even two feet. I was stuck, and no one could save me. Not even myself, my fucking weak self. His presence is demanding no matter where we are, but right now I could sense everything about him, and I try to suppress the unwanted feelings that curl right under my skin. "Firefly? About done?" He calls out and I release my hand from the guard rail not realizing that as I looked at the lights that covered the shining city with the falling fire in the background that my subconscious was thinking about how nice it would be... how relieving it would be... to just fall. These 30 stories compiled in the months of August 2023 - February 2024, made in handwritten yellow pad papers and shared to the world for the first time shows that there are ways we find to connect with others through the stories we tell to one another. Stories dealing with the loss of a loved one, the horrors of reality, about the challenges faced in life, a longing for the person we loved, the laughter shared in-between, the hopes we treasure for tomorrow and beyond and of the little interactions that happen in life. It is through the attachments, love, support, consistency, determination and dreams do we find the will to push through and accomplish what needs to be done that is set out for us to tackle.
