Mark Camus works the night shift at a convenience store that smells like old regret. He smokes too much weed. He avoids eye contact. He's got nothing going on and he likes it that way. A woman in a black suit walks in, buys a bag of chips, and offers him twenty dollars to put a family phone call on speaker.
The call isn't from his mother. The voice on the other end knows things it shouldn't - things about his dead father, about where Mark is right now, about what's waiting outside. The voice makes sounds that human throats can't produce. And it won't stop telling him to come home.
