Maddi finally met his gaze, her eyes challenging. "I know exactly who you are, Tom."

Toms lips curled into a sly smirk, his charm masking his ruthless nature. "I've taken a liking to you, Maddi. You should consider yourself lucky."

She shook her head, her tone unbothered. "I don't need your 'luck' in my life."

Toms patience disappeared. He leaned closer, his words laced with a subtle threat. "You don't seem to understand, Maddi. I can make life very difficult for you."

But Maddi had to much pride within her. "I've faced worse than you, Tom."
