Mainly because of his differences. He was born different, treated differently, and had a different life. Everything about him is different. He was born deaf, with white fur seeable by the farthest clans, and an unique insight.

His clanmates either want him to be kicked out of the clan for good riddance, pities him and talks behind his back, or acts like he doesn't exist. Beyond those flaws and disabilities, if one looked far enough, were qualities that would've been treated with respect if on a normal cat. But no one ever did look far enough.

But when trouble stirs up in the clan, sooner or later, all cats will be looking at Lightwhisper for guidance.
