||1945, and the Russians are almost in Berlin|| Emilia is a Polish girl that ended up in a orphanage before she can remember. While in the German orphanage she meets Frau Kleist, the headmistress of the orphanage. Later, Emilia, Frau Kleist, and three other girls are sent to a ammunitions factory in Berlin. While at the ammunition's factory Frau Kleist fills the gap in the girl's lives as their mother. They eventually get a apartment, but as the Russians near entering Berlin, Frau Kleist anticipates the brutality of the Russian soldiers, yet there isn't much she can do. April 16th, 1945, the Red Army has entered Berlin. Emilia and the other girls she is with, along with Frau Kleist have no idea what will happen with them...What will be their future?

The hatred was mutual, of course- however, the hatred was quick to morph into something different, something more friendly after the two encountered near-death situations.
