Aurora Bennett doesn't rely on others for help. She has a loving boyfriend, Everett, and an amazing trio. Well, at least, that's what she thought. Everett kisses one of her best friends, Lacy, right in front of her. Now she's crushed. Her only best friends in the world try to comfort her, but she can't get her mind off of it. And when Lacy and Everett show off their new relationship while greeting her in the hallway, and given her mother's tendency to be jealous, she finds she may have inherited this trait.

August Solace has a nice life. He feels the need to make others laugh and his family happy, which is a lot of people. With five siblings, two parents, and a father that pressures him to be the best, he wants to make everyone happy, He doesn't mind, though. This pleases him. He's the life of the party everywhere he goes. Literally. He throws parties every weekend. He also happens to be a basketball jock and crazy smart, boosting his popularity. His father has nonstop talk about him having a girlfriend and maybe if he worked harder he'd be more impressive. His mother too tells him he seems lonely without a girlfriend and he should find someone to help him emotionally. So when he sees Lacy, Everett, and Aurora's situation, he lets the intrusive thoughts win and slides in. Literally.

Everything goes according to plan... But the more the two spend time together, the more they realize looking at the person behind them is pointless and that looking at the person in front of them might light a spark.
