It was twelve years since the Hyrulean Civil War ended, and the land still hadn't fully recovered. The scars of war ran deep across the nation, seared into the very souls of everyone in the land. Tens of thousands of lives had been lost in one of the bloodiest conflicts Hyrule had ever experienced.

Most of the survivors and widows were haunted by the loss of loved ones in the conflict, and of the political and social upheaval that forever changed their lives. Veterans like Shikashi, however, were haunted by other things from the war. Images of terrible, cruel things, carried out by ordinary people during the war, all for the sake of their idea of a just cause swirled in his mind.

Shikashi thought it was all behind him. But one day, an old friend of his warns him that someone from their past has returned from beyond the grave, someone who facilitated those evil deeds that haunted him so deeply. Should he make it to the village, death and destruction were all but assured.

Together with the village chief, Impa, by his side, Shikashi sets out to put an end the wretched man's revival. But in their search, new truths about the nature of the war rises out of the shadows, and why it will be doomed to repeat itself unless they do something.

And thus, they descend into the hadal depths of a massive tomb...the gathering place of Hyrule's bloody history of greed and hatred.

"Princess!" he yelled after her. "Where are you going?" "Back to the castle," she replied without stopping. "Not by yourself you're not!" "I'm sorry,"-she whipped around-"I didn't realize you were my father?" "Your father, the king, would execute me for letting you travel by yourself." "Oh, so this is about self-preservation?" "Yes. Yours. There are monsters all over Hyrule now, Your Highness." Blue eyes pointedly looked her up and down. "And by the looks of it, you're not equipped to handle that." She mirrored his scrutiny and scoffed. "What, and you are?" She gestured to the cairns beyond the trees. "Are you going to protect me as well as you protected them?" Calamity is upon Hyrule. The Goddess Hylia appointed but two children to prevent the end of the world. The powers they were promised don't come easily, and after years of outright failure, Princess Zelda can't help but wonder if Hylia chose wrong. It certainly doesn't help that the boy fate has tangled her with makes her seethe. Devotion, heartbreak, inadequacy. Faith, perseverance, and courage. This is a story of finding what lies within. Hyrule is in a deep peril... Although Link had gone back in time to warn the Princess of Hyrule about Ganondorf's true plans and what the future holds, it was not enough. A seven year war waged, the Gerudo-Hylian War, which ended with the Gerudo's success. Ganondorf became the new king of Hyrule, alongside his chosen queen, Zelda. The Hero Of Time ceased to exist after he died amongst the soldiers on the battle field. Those who object his rule are sentenced to a death penalty, and with the world becoming more and more unkind after ten long years, people are starting to lose hope. Even Her Majesty has begun to lose faith, that is until she got a closer look in a mysterious fellow (Oo, sooo mysterious~) named Shylo. She believes, with his help and optimism, they will be able to finally destroy The Demon King, Ganondorf. Unfortunately however, there is no one left to wield the master sword... or is there?... (This takes place after Ocarina Of Time) Warning: If you don't like reading long chapters, this book is not for you. "Where did you come from?" Ilia asked and that's when everything stopped. Where did I come from? I tried to remember, I thought really hard but all I could say was, "I came from a place where no mortal should ever come from if they dare keep their head." The words tumbled from my mouth before I could stop them. I slapped a hand over my mouth, scared I would say more I didn't understand. Why would I say that? (Y/n) had awoke inside of a strange house, surrounded by strange kids. The only issue with that logic, she has no memory. Nothing to trigger why the young man Link and the group of children would be so kind to a stranger. It dawns on her that she needs to find out who she is again. However a darkness is brewing, and Link has a destiny to follow. The strings of fate tangle between the young duo, and (Y/n) makes a decision to help save Hyrule from the darkness. With nothing more than a brave face and an emerald pendant tying her back home, she sets out with Link. They also fall under the service of an imp itching for revenge. However, there is one person standing in the way of (Y/n) getting home. Her best friend, the Usurper King, Zant. He has made it his life goal to protect (Y/n) from himself and place a veil over her eyes to keep her from seeing his wrongs. Her wrath would for sure be the end of his evil plans. This is, the Twilight Veil. A reader insert. COMPLETED- 2018 (Y/n)- Your name (L/n)- Last name (S/c) -Skin color (E/c)- Eye color (H/c)- Hair color The plot for this story is made by me.
