Katie has never felt comfortable in who she was. At school, she was the "Queen Bee". The one everyone wanted to either date, be friends with, or they wanted to be her.
She was scared that if she showed people who she really was, they would judge her and not want to be around her. Katie thought that she would lose everything that had taken her so long to get.
Katie doesn't realize that she can be herself until she meets Holden on a cruise that she had went on with her best friend and her family.
When Holden first meets her, Katie shows him a different personality that she doesn't show in school. But what Katie doesn't know, is that Holden just moved to her city and is starting to go to her school.
