Leopold "Butters" Stotch moved to the dead-end mountain town of South Park, Colorado to escape his abusive father. He had a huge heart, and lots of love to give. Everyone had taken a liking to the cheerful teen, but there was only one person that he took a particular liking to. That person was the poorest person in the entire town, Kenneth "Kenny" McCormick.

Kenny had been born and grown up in this particularly crappy town... and gone through hell-on-earth. His parents were either drunk or high all the time, and his family was the poorest in town. His older brother had moved out, and it was almost his turn. People didn't know this about him, but he was a genuinely caring person, especially when it came to his younger sister.
