A real-world AU where Percy grows up in a very dysfunctional family and suffers at the hands of his stepfather Gabe. After ending up in foster care Percy is connected with his biological father and tries to assimilate into his new life. I wrote and finished this story back in 2016/2017 under the account murphy26 which I lost access to. I decided to clean up the story, republish it, and have it on an account I can actually use. Trigger warning for drug use, sexual assault, self-harm, and suicide

Strong, popular, and charismatic, not to mention attractive, he's the ultimate power fantasy. He doesn't let anything get under his skin... Does he? Nico diAngelo, once upon a time the perfect little catholic boy, a shining example of pure, unwavering faith in the almighty father. That is, until tragedy struck, like she does for us all, and violently stripped him of his innocence. But that was almost four years ago. He should be fine... Shouldn't he? Two boys that haven't seen each other in years, that left on bad terms and are trying not to think about each other. Two boys convinced that they have nothing in common, that they screwed up so badly the first time, there's no way the other doesn't hate them now. New York is a big city, and Goode is a big school, obviously they'll be able to avoid each other indefinitely... Right? Saving a Hero
((((COMPLETED)))) Percy Jackson is depressed and has succumbed to self destructive ways to release his frustration. Nobody notices a thing until Nico gets wind of his former crush drifting farther and farther away. Percy suddenly has new feelings for someone new, and he gets rejected by someone, but not who he thinks. He gets a quest and has to pick one other person from camp to go with him to rescue a friend. Percy gets cursed along the way and has to make it back to Camp to save a life. This story is about Percy self harming, and Nico helping him, there are mentions of dizziness, the feeling of starving, graphic self harm/injuries, blood, graphic thoughts of a person with depression, and probably something like psychological horror. If any of that makes you uncomfortable, don't read!!! I don't think I'm going to get any backlash for anything but if you comment, I'm probably not going to answer you! To the people who leave nice comments, I do read all of them and it is appreciated! this is my first published work, I just wanted to add something to this cool community and maybe live a little vicariously through the characters. So if any of this resonates with you, awesome, you're NEVER alone!!!! If your disgusted for whatever reason, GO READ SOMETHING ELSE, I don't want to hear you!! This story is also on Archive of Our Own. Its called Saving A Hero, enjoy! ((My first fanfiction, sorry if it's not that good!!))Complete
