She was sent to a psych ward because of some unfortunate events. Her dad and brother decided to take her in since her mother refused and fled off with some random guy off Creg list.

Her dad and brother were fed lies by someone Nova thought she could trust making her whole family ashamed of her, Nova refuses to tell her family what really happens in fear of what would happen after.
Until a boy comes along and she makes friends she starts softening up and trusting people again hoping she can one day tell what really happened that day.
