Avery had fallen from heaven sometime in the 13th century, finding refuge among a wolf in sheep's clothing. Cared for by a cult leader, Avery remains sheltered and as pure as a sacrificial lamb in a tumultuous modern world. Austin had gotten out of prison 13 years ago after he'd gone down the only path life had offered him at the time. Now, like a strange cosmic return, Austin finds more opportunity in his current situation and has spent his time as a free man carefully building a comfortable life around him, attempting to forget and shun his barbaric childhood. However, both of those shallow comforts hide deep wounds beneath them, and as Avery is catapulted into Austin's life, they unearth each other's festering scars.
