This story is shown as a completely fictional future... Natsu has only lived by the rules they gave him, he's known no other way to live but by listening and following. Not knowing of the past. Lucy's life was more tough, her life basically on the lam everyday without her knowing it. Risking her life to find any life that could be out there, or it was just a myth.
