In an alternate universe where South Vietnam had not only managed to survive past 1975, but thrive as well, a mysterious gate opens up in Saigon. 

The year is 1980, the 5th anniversary of the Paris Peace Accords, formally ending the Second Indochina War, and ceased hostilities between the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the Republic of Vietnam; It was also the 10th Anniversary of the successful coup against Ngo Dinh Diem, led by now-President Nguyen Chanh Thi. Through land and corruption reforms, along with state capitalism, the Republic of Vietnam thrives, it's northern neighbor starting to falter due to unfortunate failures in their land reform systems. Things were looking up for South Vietnam, at last.

However, a strange gate has opened up on District 1 of Saigon, just 15 miles away from the Presidential Palace.
