At eighteen, Olivia Bridgerton-Sharpe is not a girl of many means. Her mother and father run a printing shop and she, along with her sister and two brothers, has been an apprentice, learning the tools of the trade, even if she does not plan to engage in that sort of employment herself. In fact, in her free time, she has learned everything from three other languages (French, Latin, and Greek) to how to embroider. In short, Olivia is nothing like her mother, Eloise Bridgerton-Sharpe of the infamous and wealthy Bridgerton family.

So, it doesn't come as a surprise when she, of all of her mother's children, requests to participate in the ruthless affair called "The Season." Olivia travels to be with her Aunt Daphne, who is nothing short of exorbitantly excited to sponsor her for the season. The two of them have been close since Olivia first asked for lessons in French after finding a book in the language at age five.

However, it does come as a surprise when she manages to find a man at her first ball of the season. He's gentle, kind, and as handsome as can be. He's also the child of Cressida Twombley who, as everyone knows, hates the entire Bridgerton family (and most of the rest of the ton).

Will she risk it all for love or let it all go because of a deep family rivalry?

A lifetime of unspoken love lingers, and she regrets the moment she turned him away when he bared his feelings. As Anthony's courtship of Edwina unfolds, Kate uncovers the stark reality of his intentions-a genuine love match isn't high on his list of priorities-certainly not when she discovers of the Viscount and Queen Mother's past. Determined to shield her sister, Kate resolves to thwart the impending union. Eleanora Fitzwilliam had known Anthony Bridgerton since they were both merely three and ten years of age.
