The telltale sound of Banette releasing itself from the shadows could be heard. This was followed by a grunt from Omega Yoru, and the knife was pulled away from Fades throat. She turned around and wasted no time in pressing the barrel of the Vandal to his head.

There is more to Kalos than what meets the eye. Beneath the pristine surface of the region and the kingdom lie various concerns bubbling to the surface. Discrimination, harmful stereotypes, and dangerous Pokémon become quite noticeable over time. In an unfamiliar place, the estranged brothers can only rely on each other and face the turmoil that's been eating at their relationship since their childhood. *I don't own the Pokémon franchise, nor am I the owner of the art used for this cover. During her journey, she is met with great adversity that will challenge her emotions and strength as a trainer, including the brutal illegal group known as the Silver Gang, the same gang who murdered her father eight years ago, who wish to capture the baby Pokemon for themselves and take it to the black market. (Though set in the Pokemon Universe, 'Rayla's Ascent' gives the reader a look into the darker side of this normally kid-friendly world.
