Trigger warnings: Mental health, suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety, rejection, bullying, isolation, trauma In this personal narrative, the author, Ava, reflects on their life journey, from a premature birth in a small Michigan town to overcoming a series of challenges. Ava details their struggles with health issues, social interactions, and mental health, including experiences with bullying and a near-fatal encounter with suicide in eighth grade. They also explore their early connection with religion and the difficulties of finding acceptance in church communities. Throughout the narrative, Ava shares their discovery of potential neurodivergence, specifically the co-occurrence of Autism and ADHD, and how they've developed coping strategies to manage their challenges. Ava's story is a candid exploration of self-acceptance, personal growth, and the ongoing process of self-discovery.

Beck is top of her class when it comes to Maths and Science and her future seems bright. However, she struggles with social anxiety and relationships. Beck is autistic and spends most of her life locked away in her own mind as she reads her collection of books to escape her abusive alcoholic father. But once her eyes meet a grey eyed boy from across the room her world won't be the same. (18+ violence, adult themes, bullying, harassment and other issues) Being Autistic myself I have put a lot of me in this book. I've exaggerated certain aspects for entertainment values but other than that this is how awkward I feel most of the time. I don't see many books by women who write about their experiences in a creative way to spread awareness in a fun and compassionate way. This is mine I guess. I hope you enjoy this short story.
