What is Boswellia serrata extract?

Widely known as shallaki, the gum is produced by Boswellia serrata, a branding tree native to India; used in Ayurveda for its anti-inflammatory and pain related complications in arthritis/osteoarthritis, asthma, bronchitis. The extract is rich in boswellic acids, which belongs to pentacyclic triterpenic acid class of active compounds.
