The Kingdom of Ravenland has been split into two sectors for over 100 years. Sector One is for the rich and the royal while Sector Two is for the poor and the poorer.
After her mother's death, 17 year old Zuri leaves Sector Two to become one of the King's servants. While living in the castle, not only does Zuri learn of the King's secret illness, she also discovers that she is somehow the only rightful heir to his throne.
As the King tries to groom Zuri to become Queen, Zuri discovers the Royal Council's sinister plans for the citizens of Sector Two.
Zuri must prove that she's worthy of the crown so that she can put an end to the council's plans, all while hiding a secret she learns about herself that is punishable by death.
